The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement scale in order to determine the adaptation of international students
in higher education. Accordingly, the draft scale was applied to 458 international students studying at a public university. With the
obtained data, item-total correlation, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach-alpha reliability analysis were
performed. As a result of item and factor analysis, a scale consisting of 21 items with 4 factors emerged. The total variance explained by the
scale factors was found to be 62.875%. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the model was found to be compatible with the data, and
the scale was in a valid structure. The Cronbach-alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be .88. As a result of the
analyzes conducted, a 5-point Likert-type ‘international students’ adaptation to higher education scale’ was developed. According to the
findings, it was determined that the scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
