Effect of the Family Institution on Socialization from the Perspectives of Preservice Teachers |

In this study, the place and effect of socialization of the family which takes the most importantance in socialization process was aimed from
the perspective of preservice teachers. In addition, the interaction of education between the family and socialization processes have been
investigated. This study was conducted with 12 teachers who studied at different departmants and grades at the Faculty of Education in
Van Yüzüncü Yıl University during 2014-2015 academic year. Convenience sampling method is used for in the selection of the sampling.
The research data was obtained with semistructured interviews with the qualitative data collection tools. Interview questions were created
in consultation with experts and preservice teachers. Data were collected by four open ended questions via semi-structured interviews
with preservice teachers. The data obtained from semi-structured interviews with the teacher candidates were analyzed by descriptive
analysis. Research findings are; perspectives of preservice teachers to the role of family in the socialization process, the position of the
family in the modern world, where the family institution takes place in the future, opinions of preservice teachers about divorcement,
preservice teachers ideas about family education and situation of education faculties with regard to family education are examined.
